The Power of Red Underwear and Go Mean Green
I have a New Year’s tradition… I drive down the Las Vegas Strip on January 1st and make sure I’m wearing red underwear. Okay, actually I don’t own any red underwear, so I wore magenta. Close enough, yeah?? There’s an urban legend that if you wear red underwear on New Year’s Day, you’ll have lots…

My One Year Cancerversary
November 18, 2019. The day I found out I had cancer. Not exactly an anniversary I want to celebrate or remember, but it’s part of my life now. Lately, I’ve kind of gone into hibernation mode. I haven’t felt like talking to friends or family very much because nobody can really understand what I go…

Surgery
I haven’t been blogging lately. I’m going to radiation every day, and I just get so tired that I can’t even… But I had surgery on May 20, and it went okay! I was SUPER scared beforehand because…who wouldn’t be scared thinking about getting cut open? After I finished chemo in April, my breast surgeon…

Last Day of Chemo — Yay!
OMG, I MADE IT!!! Yesterday was my last day of chemo! I made it through 6 cycles… just barely. 😂 But I’m so excited that the hard part is over!!! I’ll be continuing with Herceptin and Perjeta for a year—or maybe indefinitely—and I’ll still have to go in every 3 weeks, but they said the…

Chemo Day #5, Some Good News and Doomsday Thoughts
Hello again! Today is my 5th chemo! I only have one more chemo left after this and I can’t wait!!! The ringing comes and goes every couple of days, and thankfully I haven’t experienced…

Chemo Day #4: Donuts, Kobe, and Someone Having a Bad Reaction
Today I really wanted to bring donuts for all the infusion nurses, especially one of my regular nurses because she is so sweet and nice. And today, of all days, she was off. Doh! Anyway, I think all the other nurses really liked the donuts, and they’re all nice too. I hid two donuts in…

Chemo Day #3 and How I Found Out My Cancer Is Stage IV
This past week has been going okay. This time the side effects were mostly nausea, and then I got a yeast infection AND a UTI, so I had to take antibiotics. But I didn’t get the crazy diarrhea like last time… thank goodness!!! I’ve also been having some hot flashes from the Lupron injection, but…

Chemo Day #2
The last couple of days I’ve been feeling pretty normal. I’ve been able to drive around, run errands and just feel like myself again. Well, except for the whole not having hair part. It still feels funny to sleep with no hair. I have this weird phantom feeling like my hair is still there, and…

Chemo Side Effects and Losing My Hair
These side effects are crazy! Days 1–5: Body aches, nausea, bloody nose, bloody gums after brushing my teeth, heartburn, indigestion, and this weird feeling every time I swallow—like my throat is turning inside out. Days 5–10: The most insane explosive diarrhea I’ve ever experienced in my life! Sorry, TMI… I know. 😳 I also had…

I’m Alive!
The first day after chemo wasn’t too bad. I was taking my anti-nausea meds preemptively in the hopes that I wouldn’t feel anything. At 7:20 p.m., the Neulasta thing started beeping, and I waited an hour before I could finally take it off. The second day, which was Christmas Day… O.M.G. Everything started hitting me…
